Self Build & Design Show is on again – Saturday / Sunday September 11th and 12th.
Many great seminars and demonstrations. The location is fantastic – a huge hall with many permanent exhibitions on walls, foundations, water systems, roofing, etc. Always fun and no cost tickets too.
This is just off M4, junction 16 on Bristol side [...]

These are some rather amazing electric metal driveway entrance gates – quite a good design – that is, if you have enough bodyguards and property guards to keep the burglars away. Metal security gates are great for security so why not show off a bit – if you have no taste that is.
Not sure what [...]

Today we look at biochar, which could change the way organic waste is got rid of – and also provide useful by products. When I was a child, I used to take potato and vegetable peelings to a big box for the local pigs – this was in a small English town. Nowadays of course [...]

I get asked this – hire a builder for building jobs, or try do it yourself – DIY?
Some jobs are too big for DIY because

So if you are worried your new extension might fall foul of some local Inspector, you’d better get over [...]

Channel 4 has a funny DIY [...]

We don’t have any DIY do it yourself plans for reactors, but this is very interesting as a way to microgenerate electricity. Solar for individual buildings, down to shed or outdoor building size, and small scale nuclear for blocks or factories. Bill Gates and Toshiba are planning a small scale reactor apparently.
We have a green [...]

Upcoming course at National Self Build Centre off M4 in Swindon.
