A train appearing out of a tunnel drove audiences crazy when films first began. That was a tunnel - architecture and civil engineering. So from the start, architecture was driving people mad. Generations have now considered movies as a source of entertainment, inspiration and education.

A taste in movies depicts a lot about a person's character. They show the perspective with which he paints the world in his mind. Films have always made quite an impact on society and vice versa.

There have been movies about any and all topics and professions. Architects have been portrayed in many different ways in films, but usuually as a sort of hard done by tryer.

There have even been many films on architects of the future, on those who build computer programs that make virtual life and those who build artificial worlds. Even there it all goes horribly wrong (this is Matrix Reloaded btw). We even thought about the poor saps building the Death Star in Star Wars, did they ever get any credit? But since we are not sure of the registration process for alien architects, we decided theat had to be left out (also another abject failure as a building).

Here is a list of movies that have inspired many and are a part of the collector editions list of movies with architects having the leading or significant roles.
