GRANTS FOR BUILDING WORK

Many grants exist but the problem is finding them. The next problem is getting them as the conditions are often difficult or baffling.

Public money is available for listed buildings, arts centres (from the Arts Council or the Lottery), infrastructure, energy saving renovations, and a plethora of other things.

Some money is available for insulation and various energy saving renovations. These will be listed soon, when the decisions have been made on cutbacks in the UK.

With public spending cutbacks all the rage, after a couple of years of government spending to prop up ailing economies (so what has changed now? you might ask), there will be an even bigger reduction in new build housing over coming years.

In the UK, the Labour government had said it was to restart social housing building (council houses). Now that whole idea is scrapped.

Yes the population of the UK is predicted to grow by 10 million in the next twenty tears. So where are they all to live?
