Building designs and purpose of use change but there is one common factor that all buildings have in common - energy.

All buildings regardless of their green credentials will require some sort of energy in order to be used as homes and places of business. Presently most energy used comes from large centralised sources.

Gas is piped in from large stores and electricity is generated at power plants usually hundreds of miles away.

When planning a green build thought needs to be given to how the building will be supplied with energy. There are numerous ways in which to cut down the power required from outside sources all with varying rates of cost, carbon reduction, ease of use and suitability to project size.
